Course Sod Work

Sod preparation of priority weak collar areas began today.  This process will be ongoing over the next several weeks.  To expedite the process, some holes may be restricted for play for a portion of the day.  Please contact the golf shop or check the Sandwhich Board for daily notices.  Disruption to play will be kept minimal and only during low golf activity times.  Holes 2, 8, and 11 will be the largest of areas addressed.  Hole 2 is pictured below.

Fairway Cultivation

Fairway slicing began today and will be completed tomorrow.  Disruption of playing surface is minimal.  This process is being done to promote new growth, reduce compaction, increase gas exchange, and improve water infiltration.  Lift, Clean, and Place rule for fairways in effect through weekend.  All rough scheduled to be core aerated next week.

Spring Dry Spell

With no substantial rain events over the past week, the course has become firm and fast.  Overall nightly course irrigation for the first time this Spring began at the end of last week.  All three wells and the creek transfer pump have been started up to replenish the main irrigation pond(seen in first picture).  Looks like Mother Nature will help out at the end of this week with a good chance of rain on Friday.  The weekend looks good.  Hope all come out to enjoy the course and the great Spring weather.

Fan Frenzy

Installation of upgraded Turf Breeze fans is going well.  Wire routing and connection will take place next week.  The bases will be concealed with elevated mulch areas to drip line of fans and treated as Ground Under Repair.  Looking forward to the expected improvement of turf quality on these greens this summer.
