Course Sod Work

Sodding of the majority of collar on hole 11 was completed last Friday.  Imperfections in levelness will be addressed with aeration and top dressing  over the next month.  All sod for collar work on holes 2, 8, and 11 were generated from range tee area prior to renovation that began today.  Several other needed collar/approach areas will be addressed in following weeks utilizing sod from target green areas.

Select Tee Renovation

Here are a few pictures of the renovation of several select tees.  All failing turf was removed and teeing surfaces laser leveled prior to installation of new Zoysia sod, same as Club House Event Lawn and very similar to the existing turf on hole 13 Members tee.  Last of sod needed for holes 5 and 3 will be installed tomorrow morning.  Grow in time prior to availability for normal play is estimated at two weeks.  Expectations are positive for increased turf quality in these shady locations.

Clubhouse Event Lawn Renovation

Here are a few before and after pictures of renovation of the Club House Event Lawn area.  Conversion from fescue to zoysia should improve the aesthetic and functionality quality for years to come.  Entire area will be roped off for the next couple weeks.  All please help during this time to prevent any unnecessary traffic.  We think it turned out great.

Feast or Famine

After going about a month with minimal rain, the course has received over 6 inches of rain since Saturday night.  We sure needed some rain, but not all at once.  The heavy rains have severely washed all bunkers and displaced mulch, leaves, and other debris throughout the course.  The cleanup process will be extensive over the next week with the possibility of more heavy rains this evening.  All understanding is appreciated in advance while the GCM crew proceeds to put the course back in shape this week.  At least we're not having to wash silt off of greens, as shown in the last picture from a course just south of Firethorne.  The course will be open for play all week.
